The Friends of the Pearce-Sunsites Community Library have taken a couple of major leaps into the digital age over the past few months. One of those leaps was creating this website. In part, the COVID-19 pandemic forced us to find new and creative ways to stay in touch with the community, but a website was truly something that has been a long time coming.
Recently, we’ve taken another leap: we’re offering online donation.
Over the years, patrons have asked to support the library in ways we simply didn’t have the means to accommodate:
- Accepting debit and credit cards: some patrons prefer to donate using a debit or credit card. Many of us avoid dragging around a checkbook and keep little cash in our wallets.
- Donating privately: some patrons love handing over a check and seeing the grateful smile on the face of the volunteer who accepts it. Others prefer to offer their support without the fuss of being recognized for it. Although mailing a check has always been a solution, online donation is often a preferred alternative. With social distancing and a surging pandemic, being able to donate without physical contact has more appeal than ever.
- Online convenience: many of our patrons have become comfortable with transacting business online, from paying bills to buying their next pair of shoes. Being able to donate online makes it possible for them to demonstrate their support for the library at any time of the day or night.
The website now has a donation button at the bottom of the home page and in the sidebar of every page beyond it. We use PayPal for payment processing, so your personal information is secure and confidential. This website does not collect any personal or financial information from you; that’s PayPal’s job, and they have about 300 million customers who trust them to keep that information safe.
When you click the donate button, you’ll be taken to the PayPal website where you can use a variety of payment methods to make your donation. You also have the option of creating a PayPal account of your own, but that isn’t required.
We’ve left the donation amount up to you. Donate as little or as much as you desire. Every dollar counts when it comes time for us to pay the electric bill!
The Friends wish you all a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season. Thank you for your patronage and support.
